Our
Story
RDSA is a 501(c)3 founded by Tom Hahn in 2010 with the goal of creating employment for Makah Tribal members and spouses. The organization’s home base is in Neah Bay, Washington; a rural area with minimal available opportunities. In 2009 Mr. Hahn took it upon himself to take a look around and see what could be done to generate funding and jobs in the community. After several months of work, he officially founded RDSA with the goal of creating job opportunities for Makah Tribal members and spouses.
RDSA’s overall mission is to provide relevant education and necessary transportation to optimize employment opportunities in timber, construction, and fishing sectors. We have a long history of working on the Washington Coast, specifically in removing derelict vessels and serving the tribal community. To this day, all three members of the RDSA advisory board are tribal members.
Thomas Hahn, CEO

Thomas Hahn, the CEO of RDSA, is a Coast Guard licensed captain for up to 100 tons, as well as a licensed commercial driver with a Hazmat Endorsement with a 40-hour HAZWOPER Certificate. One of his many roles in the community is managing the Tribal Quarry under the Forestry Program for the Makah Tribe. He has lead RDSA in successfully removing 12 derelict vessels ranging from 32’ to 46’ in length from the Makah Marina to the Makah Rock Quarry. Tom also helped found and manage Makah Sand and Gravel (MSG), a sole Enterprise, owned by the Makah Tribe. They employed 30 tribal members over a 11-year period. The company supplies concrete to build the Makah National Fish Hatchery, Hoko Fish Hatchery, HUD homes, Clallam Bay Phase 1 - 500 bed prison, and Seattle Metro Sewer system from Renton to Eliot Bay MSG supplied 80,000 cubic yards of concrete; making MSG the second largest concrete supplier in 1984.
Advisory Board
RDSA could not do the work it does without the help of our advisory board. Each advisor is a member of the Makah Tribe.
